I hear you where you are coming form about Oz, and Sarah, too. I grew up on the '39 MGM musical, then late discovered the books with the classic illustrations. I greatly enjoyed Farmer's take (even if I didn't quite agree with his assessment that there was only one story). And then I enjoyed the one Keith Laumer AU where Baum only wrote one book: The Sorceress of Oz. I'd love to get my hands on a copy of that! LOL
